"As a matter of fact, when you set big goals and chase big dreams, you are engaging in a hugely creative act. Youare using your imagination and your abilities to build something wonderful. That’s energy in action. When you go after what you want, with love and abandon, you tap into the energy that created the stars. A kind of magic begins to enter your life and things happen that defy comprehension...Your dreams will begin to become your reality."
Nezar Sebahi.
PROFILES
Mrs. Aisha Lootah, a name that has always been synonymous with success, hard work and kind heartedness. Her wise and creative leadership of Al Ebdda Model School in Dubai has remarkably contributed to the the puplic renown of her school. The Reading Star Competition, one of her notable achievements, was not to gain that public interest and support without her relentless determination to succeed. Her resolution to proceed with the project and overcome the obstacles with indomitable spirit has definitely paved the way to that brilliant success . The competition has offered unprecedented opportunity to the UAE students to develop their English language skills abroad and be on close and daily contact with the language.
Furthermore, Mrs Lootah's aspiring vision has been evidently expressed through her practice. She has repeatedly stressed the UAE students' requisite needs to enrich their experiences and broaden their knowledge of foreign cultures. The contest is held once a year among the best readers of English language and comprise all Dubai model schools top students . The winners usually reap the rewards of all their hard work at the end of the contest when they are offered a 2-week educational holiday at Harrow House International Colleges, Swanage, UK, The 'Premier Language School Organisation in the UK'.

Swanage, the charming city of Harrow House International Colleges.
However, the leading role of Mrs Shahla Mattar, a highly distiguished supervisor of English language at DEZ, remains of paramount importance to the success of the competition. She has been totally engaged in managing and supervising the whloe process and thus adding a new dimension to the contest due to her marvellous expertise, high morality and unique presence of mind. She has always been in favor of creating more incentive awards for students to encourage them to work harder and in this way, advance their language skills and avail themselves of the opportunity to better their English.
A 3-year-old well reputed "Reading Star" competition, conducted by Al Ebdda Model School in association with Omar Ben Al Khattab Model School in Dubai, has been successfully concluded late March. Three girls winners from AMS along with two boys winners from OBKMS won the first 5 positions, and deservedly so. A UK educational trip reward has been granted to the 5 winners who demonstrated great enthusiasm and determination to sweep to victory.
The British Council, once again, has amazingly contributed to the stunning success of the competition through hosting competitors to take both the written and oral test on its premises. The UK trip, scheduled for June will give winners a golden opportunity to practice their speaking skills and further their English.

Language is the basic tool of communication in the sense of enabling a student to understand and be understood, and to establish their own identity. Language is also the avenue by which one gains access to literature and thereby to the cultural treasury of civilization.
Mrs Aisha Lootah, principal of Al Ebda Model School, realizing the importance of English language as a major means of communication, managed to translate words into actions when she signaled the organizing of a yearly competition for the best readers in English language.
The competition has involved most of Dubai Model School students. The first five winners are usually awarded a 2-week educational holiday in the UK.
